I'm struggling getting a committment from the Hybrid guys - so don't know for sure.

Any particular reason for the move to FPO instead of BYO? I like the BYO :)

the Palmy guys are keen but struggle to balance our punters needs and our playing so couldnt commit 100%.
We were also keen on keeping the byo paint option.

well i get fucked around with teams saying they want x amount of paint so i order it, and end up gettin left with 10 to 20 boxes in my garage till next time, every time, at my cost, and the $20 bux i make off each case aint worth it when i have to pay out $1500 and carry it over till next time, then next time, then next time.

if teams will come play the 5s regularly and captains sort their teams out with definate "yes" or "no" we are or arnt coming and we would like "this" many boxes and stick to it, then byo could stay, last thing i want to do is discourage teams from attending.

while we are at it, the biggest problem from my viewpoint about organising the 5s aint lugging the field and paint on and off my trailer, and carting it up to the field, sorting the paperwork and key with council, the problem that pisses me off is that i have to chase teams esp captains to get a definitive yes or no about attendance, and yes i know that apathy is the bane of paintball worldwide, as is layness, and i am also well aware that people move on and things change, and if there comes a time (which is approaching) when the little effort it takes to set the 5s up becomes toooooooooooooooo much drama, then i wont do it any mo.

this aint directed any anyone or team in particular, rather just letting everyone know that if players need to be mummied , and looked after and chased up, ill find other things to do.

for christ sakes, you want to play ball, freakin do somehting about it without being chased.

funny that aukland and wellington paintball aint what it used to be, so you spend a whole year trying to encourage people to get out there and shoot their expensive equipment once a month, and end up getting better attendance and committment from out of towners...... namely unorthodox, murder inc, .

so theres my spleen on the floor

whered i put that .270

Hey Ants,
Not too sure if you've discussed this option before but If we get enough interest from the regular PB guys/teams is there the possibility of making the 2008 monthly 5's H+1 into a half-yearly 'Wellington PB league' ??

If we could get the same teams to commit to playing we could do a haly-yearly league with points allocated at each event & have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd place at the end of the 6 rounds with a bbq & some prizes or something at the end etc..

Maybe we could make it a $100 sign-up PP for the 6 rounds. That way if everyone pay's up front (eg. by the 1st round of the 6 rounds) then it's pretty guranteed they will make the remainder of the games as not to lose out on the $100fee. I know if I paid $100 up front it would gurantee I would play every week to get my money's worth :) ,Then if most people have paid in advance for the league we'd get the sames people/teams there every week. I recon it would be wicked cool!!

I would be more than happy to help organise something & help put together a roster & some ideas to post up on the forum to guage interest etc.

Just my 2c

Laurence.

Well if you put it under "Wellington Paintball club" or whatever it is that exists people may be a tad more confident putting up the $100.

Making it into an official club is a great idea imo.

Prepaid is great too, but be good to make sure walkons are still ok to play.

I'd pay in advance, after all its not like being asked to join the NZPPA ;)

2 problems with the pre pay,
1. its not a certainty that i want to keep doing the 5s
2. getting people to pay the money aint the problem, its lack of drive and committment by players/teams,

if i didnt chase teams up how many would forget or not even know its on? prolly half.

Ants were looking at an airball field for palmy north if your interested we could run one day of the 5s as part of your series up here so it would give you a break from setting up etc and give ppl a change of scenery.
Might even be able to drag some ppl out of the bay.
We should have our field by Jan next year and as they say a change is as good as a holiday.

Note this would be a 1 off thing only done with the support of Ants the offical wellies 5 organiser.

you could talk to brendon about it if your interested at the 5's. im stuck at work unfortunitly.

Hi Ants

We're in... and I wouldn't even mind the occasional jaunt to Palmy to be different!

Formalising the club could be good and reduce your stresses (delegate and share)! I'd be interested in helping with organisation.

cheers

Just as an idea, heres how I would have it set-out.

Nov-Dec 07'/Jan 08'
We see what teams are intersted. Guage how the series will work, and draw up a set of guides for the series.. eg. who will look after money for teams that have paid early. We can either have 1 person in-charge of different things, maybe we have on person who takes orders for paint, eacy player is responsible fo their own stuff OR we structure teams so that Team captians are responsibe for making sure THEIR players turn-up, have gear.
Only team captians can place orders for paint (maybe they ring up their players and check, or we get orders placed a month early. (eg. AT round 1, you place your Round 2 paint orders).

Jan-Feb 08'
Formalise the Series.

We start the series and have the whole series planned out so that EVERYONE knows ALL the weekends the series is being played and where (can maybe change vanue etc if enough notice given).

Competition:
(Example 6 teams)
Each team play each team once = 5 games per team
The top 2 teams at after the round robin play off for 1st & 2nd place points.
The 3rd & 4th teams play-off for their points.
5th place & 6th place can play off but will still get samer points each team.

Points:
1st - 10 pts
2nd - 7 pts
3rd - 5 pts
4th - 3 pts
5th - 1 pts
6th - 1 pts

Payments: (6 rounds @ $20 a round = $120 for the series pp)
Pay up-front = $100 pp (save $20)
Pay on the day then it's $20 a week.
PEOPLE, OR TEAMS, MUST PAY ON THE FIST WEEK TO GET THE DISCOUNT.

Field:
ALL teams help set-up & put away the field, same start time EVERY month.
We have a roster so that each month one team has to turn up early to peg out field, get paint unloaded off trailer, get air ready etc..

It's just an idea but I thibnk it could really work IF WE WANT IT TO. I recon that it would be a great oppertunity to get something like this off the ground & if we can get the basics done now before Christmas.

Cheers,
Laurence.

great ideas from everyone, heres an even better one, someone take the 5s over, and organise it. See one of the major problems with anything or rather any sport is that 90%of the people wont do bugger all behind the scenes consistently. So if you guys want , i can hand the organising of the 5s over to whoever wants to take the reigns, and in saying that , there aint really a lot of work to do, f*ck all really, its just a piss off having to play mum and dad week in week out.sounds like next year will be a good one with new drivers at the wheel.:)
