the newzealand paintball site has just been killed because of a debate on moderators all forums have been deleted except for the general.

Original meaning was the point when a television series shows it has run out of ideas and must resort to stunts to retain viewer interest. Derived from a scene in the last years of Happy Days when the Fonz waterskied over a shark. Includes actions such as "it was all a dream" episodes, live episodes, lead actors playing guest characters, and putting entire cast into a parody of some pop cultural event.
It looks like "Will and Grace" decided to jump the shark. They are doing a live episode in black and white where they are all characters from Star Wars. Elton John will play Jabba the Hut who shoots Jack with a "straight ray" gun.
So when did nzpaintball "jump the shark"

I think it started downhill last year when several (ok, most of the) NZPPA committee members decided they had had enough inane sniping from the sidelines & quit.
Also the bottle issue has had serious ramifications for the tourney scene. In itself, getting bottles "NZ legal" is a good thing. Unfortunately, there are now hundreds if not thousands of tanks no longer usable at NZ tourneys, and more coming in all the time, brought in by people buying their own gear off the net, unaware of the new restrictions. Buyer beware, I hear you say, but the fact is these guys can't play tourneys now unless they go buy another new bottle, which most will balk at.
Sadly, I predict we will not see a return to tourneys with 20 - 7 man teams (such as past Roto events) for at least 3-5 years, due to this one issue alone.
So what to do about it? Maybe try to educate offshore suppliers as to what is NZ legal, if we are lucky 1 or 2 may care. Perhaps a local supplier could offer a bottle trade in deal, then re-sell the second-hand ones off-shore.
I'm going to miss the old website, my thanks to Rob for all his efforts over the years.

Makes life easier and much more interesting for the spectators. Like when that one guy wiped and that American (represent :)) went nuts about it.

This site won't be closing. ;) One thing I will say about PBNZ was "I" believe it was a little over-moderated. You won't find that here. If people want to have a bit of an arguement, I believe they are encouraged to "wig out" constructively. And there's no fucking shitty swear censor either... :twisted: (Bannination to ensue in 5...4...3...).

If we can get everyone working together and get rid of the hostile community from PBNZ then maybe it had to die the death for us to move forward.
The way I see it is, Out with the old, In with the new.
Lets get a proper mindset going on in NZ ballers. If you have a problem at a tourney, speak up at the time. Dont start sensless arguements on here. Use this forum to communicate events and other usefull information. Not bullshit rants and raves (that would be for the SMACKTALK section) ;)

I know how moderators feel - I've closed around thirty threads and banned three or four members for life on the forums I moderate (http://forums.relicnews.com). It's a tricky job and you have to regularly step on peoples toes for the good of the majority. I've been called a nazi, fascist, whatever you can think of, but in the end it has to be done to keep some semblance of sanity in the place.
Anyways, I agree with Frodo. No reason the community should die because a site goes down. This should get rid of all the non commited individuals, like wiping the old hard drive and starting over.

Education is the key to success. Lets give evryone every little detail. Every person that comes to tourneys we will tell about this site. In turn people will post when practices are, tourneys are and when someone want a 1 on 1 raping :D
When Jono posted about that 3 man "tourney" I don't know if itwas in welly but if it was in Aux I woulda gone but had no idea it was being run. And it look slike people had one day to read the post....correct me if I'm wrong.
Good job that site's gone :lol: and i agree with the guy's saying it's the rebirth of paintball in nz... It's an easy way out to just quit, some people just need to hard'n-up abit :!:
