The Legion is an Auckland Based Paintball group, where it differs from other paintball groups is in its training. The Legion prides itself on the training it provides to each Legionnaire.

The concept behind the Legion is to bring a whole new level to Paintball, with the use of Military Tactics and Discipline to overcome any other team as well as the whole Legion working as a team to improve communication skills of its members and just generally enjoy the game of Paintball.

Base:
The Infantry of the Line units are based in a 10-Acre “Farm” 3 minutes down state highway 16 from Westgate Shopping Centre.
The Farm has a number of features, which provide training facilities for the Legion, there currently is:
Two Barns
Much number of Fences
Flat Open Land
Densely Treed Areas

Units:
Standard Units:
When a Legionnaire applies to join the Legion he is posted to one of two Infantry Units:
1e Régiment étranger d'infanterie:
This is the basic infantry unit in the legion, this regiment of the line trains for Attack and counter Attack, it deferrers from the 2nd regiment by the formations is uses. The unit is lead by a Lieutenant who is in charge of the regiment. To the Lieutenant a legionnaire who is equipped with a radio is attached.

2e Régiment étranger d'infanterie:
The 2nd Regiment of the line infantry is for the more advanced members, upon promotion from the 1st Regiment the Legionaries are trained in the use of set attacks and defences, mortar and heavy weapon use as well as sniper training.

Specialized units:
After completing Basic Training a Legionnaire may request to be transferred to a specialized unit for additional training and missions.
However the transfer is subject to the commanding officer’s approval and the legionnaire may be transferred back to the original unit.

To qualify for the listed units (below) the following requirements must be met:
1er Régiment étranger de cavalerie 30 Kill’s
2e Régiment Étranger de Parachutistes 20 Kill’s
3e Régiment étranger d'infanterie 20 Kill’s

1er Régiment étranger de cavalerie:
This is the Light Mobile force of the Legion, Designed around the concept of Movement rather then Weight of fire. It is specialized in scouting and Reconnaissance. There is a Maximum of 5 Legionnaires in this Unit, with the general make-up been 1 Sergeant, 1 Legionnaire with Radio and 3 Legionnaires.

2e Régiment Étranger de Parachutistes:
This is the Defensive force of the Legion, this unit has been designed around the concept of Fire over Movement and specializes in static warfare with the use of fixed firing lines, base defence and bunker construction. This unit is only used in missions, which require the use of fixed defences. The Legionnaires carry a heavier load of ammunition and support equipment then the regiments of the line, due to the fact they cannot be regularly supplied and may be assaulted for a longer duration of time. There is a Maximum of 5 Legionnaires in this Unit, with the general make-up been 1 Sergeant, 1 Legionnaire with Radio and 3 Legionnaires.

3e Régiment étranger d'infanterie:
This is a specialized Jungle Warfare unit of the Legion, based on the same principles of the standard infantry units but extra training is provided in patrolling, ambush and counter ambush as well as general silent operations. The concept is a balanced mixture of Fire and Movement. There is a Maximum of 10 Legionnaires in this Unit, with the two fire teams each of 5 Legionaries with each group’s general make-up been 1 Sergeant, 1 Legionnaire with Radio and 3 Legionnaires

I wouldn't panic - Legion is a tournament based team from Auckland as well :) I'm guessing from your post that you guys are mainly rec-ball?

Welcome to the site either way.

Thank you, its good to b here.
Yes we mostly play on the Farm and such, we used to play a lot in America but we are getting back into it.

Most of us use the Sypder MR1, MR2 and such and its just for fun, since we have 10 acres of private land we don't have to worry about anyone crashing the party.

If anyone just wants to come down for a quick game with us, we play every saturday at 10am.

Hello
Sorry to use your name, i didnt know it was taken, my appologizes.

You are correct 2REP is a para unit, however having a para paintball unit is a bit to much.

When living in france i got a whole pile of used foreign legion uniforms, badges and such so i thought it would come in usefull. If you want to ban me because I used your name (plus i cant find the private forum you have, i even googled it, sorry not to great with computers) please go right ahead i didnt mean any harm. We are going to be a rec-playing and will not enter any tournements but we will be offering to play with other units in the area for fun and to build realionship's with other teams.

Its great to be part of the forum.

Some detials are:
I will be sending out an email to anyone intrested in joining with some pdf files on basic tatics and such, there will be a monthly news-letter with updating and such. We will be playing atleast once every month but more then likely every 2 weeks. Currently there are 9 members oh which 5 are ex-army and will be doing most of the training.

Gear: atleast have a paintball marker but we do have spares if need-be. We use paintballs at 2000 for $60 and its your responsibility to supply gas.

Uniform: British Soilder 95 or dpm, french olive drab, us military cammo or olive drab is fine, but most of the people will be wearing ex nz army gear.

I provide a breret upon completion on training and selection into one of the more specilized units. Each unit has its own badge and will be issued.

Currently we are looking for leaders and just general people who want to have a bit of fun, basically its like re-enactment meets paintball.

well thank you for reading.........

Dude, you are extraordinarily close to my profile.

That aside, tell us a little about your experience in NZ ball and well as what you were doing in France. There are a few guys I know well, in the bush ball scene who like to add a little more spice into their game. A good number of them you can find at the 2 day events in Rotorua that Herb runs (The Big Game). It's a hell of a lot of fun, even for tourney players. Some of these guys have gone to a lot of effort to really put some spirit in to their ball so I'm picking you'd get on with them like a house on fire. It's not everyone's bag, but definitely worth a look. If I recall correctly, Herb's handle is GWRTurbo or something similar. The Rotorua website is Paintball NZ - Home (http://www.paintballnz.co.nz/) and the regulars down there are a good bunch. We had a blast at the 2007 big Game.

In the Auckland scene, it's hard to gauge what sort of response you'll get, the vast majority of players I know are either Rec/bush ballers in for a social game (and an excuse the have a BBQ afterwards) or Tourney, of which half of them are terrified of trees. (Seth, I'm looking in your direction) The Milsim Crowd are a little harder to find, probably cause they blend in a little better :) but have a trawl around, you could also try the Actions Paintball open day. In Swanson west Auckland. It's usually a good cross section of the causal players and few of the more dedicated monthly regulars who you see, time and time again..
