there seems to be a problem with my brand new spyder MR1 marker in that it has a tendency to fire more than one ball - ie several balls will enter the chamber and be fired in one shot. it happens every few shots, and the extra balls will simply roll out the barrel if the gun is pointed downwards

going to take it back to the store tomorrow if it isn't an easily fixed issue

the weird thing is it looks identical to my brother's marker, and both have no clear way of preventing this from happening

The detent must be worn out or missing. A detent (or ballstopper i think it says in the spyder manual) is a small plastic or rubber nub (sometimes with a spring) that sticks out into the breach just in front of the feedneck. It's meant to stop more than one ball from loading at a time. However they can be prone to wearing out or shearing off. Easily fixed (just buy and install new ones, takes 30 seconds) , but since it's new the store should replace them for free.

fixed using the spare,

but weird that it wasn't there to begin with while my brother's was

not even the back end of it

What you will find is MR1's have a reputation of shearing of when either dry firing or normal use. You should be able to find a solution on either PBReview or PBNation under there forum sections:)
