We had an awesome day today with Wanganui ballers combining with the Naki guys and facing members of the local Police and AOS (with a few other Wanganui players to even up the sides).
Ton o' fun.
There were 40 of us all up with ages ranging from about 13 up to (ahem) 48.
Not me cos I'm not 48 yet. ;)
Before we went out, I was a little concerned that we might be outmatched by their tactical training, but as was pointed out to me, you can't compare PB with tactical AOS training. They're poles apart and it really came down to ballers vs ballers.
There were a few pockets of serious mayhem as guys struggled to adequately identify their own guys and subsequently made them walk. Blue tape on the arm isn't really that clear, lol.
I was totally impressed with the great attitudes out there today and the friendship & generosity as we met new guys and plan to have many repeats in the future.
Big thanks to the Naki crew for making that trip to Wangas (again) and helping to make it the day that it was.

More pics as soon as they're available.

Sounds awesome, glad to hear that it went really well!

My intarwebs really doesn't like the picture browser thing on your site, so in case it doesn't work for anyone here's the group shot:

Hmm... It's only a small piece of javascript.
Please drop a note anyone if you also have difficulty with it.

Matty, organising it was a breeze as everyone was super keen.
Publish a day and time and it takes care of itself.

Ultimately how keen people are is the key. If people are apathetic or coming up with excuses then there really isn't much an organiser can do other than to go with the flow. B2 was talking at length about this in the "Playing in the Now Zone" thread he made, though noone has really come up with any solutions besides the usual "please be more keen". That doesn't work obviously.

It's good to see that in Wanganui you guys have some keen ballers :) . What do you think you have that perhaps the rest of the country is lacking a bit? Hard question I know.

A lot of our guys are in a very similar age bracket and are members of local Church youth groups, so most of us know each other that way and when one gets excited about something the others usually catch on too.
Also we're very fortunate to be within a reasonable distance from both Naki and Palmy and have guys that are keen to come over and I'm ashamed to say we've been very slow to reciprocate.
But we will.
Otherwise, we simply try to foster good fun with good attitudes (in spite of getting a little over excited at times as we all do, lol). In this regard I don't think we're any different from other fields.
Having a progressive challenge in the form of a series through the year must have the effect of forming a monthly committment to a large degree also.
