View Full Version : DYE Rotor Review by TechPB
Was watching the PSP 2008 World Cup (http://webcast.pspevents.com/flash/player/) and there were a LOT of players using the DYE Rotor and I believe it was Matty Marshal in the commentary box saying how they performed very very well.
Here's the TechPB review:

Hey Wheelz,
I've heard that the Rotor has had a lot of jamming issues, plus, Dye recommends that you DON'T use reballs as the loader isn't capable of feeding them.
They sure have a crazy feed system on them, with one arm going this way and what looks like a cheese grater going the other.... I think there are better loaders for the money out there but it's all preference (at 13bps, they all feed consistently)
Empire Prophecy (150USD) - sound or RF capability (approx. same battery life as prev. Halos/Reloaders)
Pinokio (150USD) - Bend Sensor (roughly 8-15 cases)
Dye Rotor (150USD) - Force feed (roughly 15-30 cases)
NXe JRNY? (???) - Auger feed system w/ catch tray (claimed 20 cases)
Cheers, Dan
PS
no offense to the Dye fanboys out there lol :respect:
Jrny is dead, and Pinokio is way too big (and ugly) even without the extension.
The two best options there imo are the Prophecy and the Rotor, with the prophecy being better at feeding reballs and the Rotor winning on battery life, lack of popcorning, sturdiness and weight. Personally I'd take the Rotor as reball in NZ is dead, and being able to feed those last few balls without missing a beat is a bonus. The initial jamming issues were due to bad software on the first few hundred released.
If reball was still around I'd go for the Prophecy. Or both. Probably both :)
Yeah, I noted the Reball issue on the review but, as Vijil said, not really a problem here these days.
My biggest like was the battery life and rapid tool-less servicing.
ah yeah, the maintenance is a big one. Even the suicide shell style maintenance on the prophecy wont help much when it comes to milkshakes. Halo style hoppers have that kink in the neck that makes it really hard to clean out without completely dismantling it. Rotor doesn't have that problem at all. I've had enough nightmares with my B2 to stay away from that in future.
I am a loader whore as many know so I think you will find the following...
1. The prophecy doesnt popcorn lol, popcorning wouldnt effect it anyways, its not the best at feeding the last couple of balls however
2. A Rotor cannot be adjusted (other than bending microswitches lol), if you have issues with paint there isnt shit you cant do about it. There are allot of them in Aussie at the moment and I saw allot of people revert back to their old loaders
3. Prophecy on the other hand has more adjustments than you can shake a stick at, runs well on stock settings but can be changed to match any paint/gun issues and this can now be done without stripping it down like the Magna
4. Battery life on both is really good
5. Prophecy has a massive mouth for easy feeding (30% larger than the Rotor)
6. Prophecy has better input with shell options (great for snipers lol)
So yeah Prophecy FTW
Halo style hoppers have that kink in the neck that makes it really hard to clean out without completely dismantling it.
Err that part comes away on the Prophecy about as easy as the Rotor lol
And people that say the Rotor has so many less parts need to be shot

I do like the features on the Pinokio though, like the ease of getting to the batteries, the reinforced feedneck and that you can clean it using a Spray bottle :D. Heck, you can't go wrong with practically any loader on the market today.
Cheers, Dan
I have a Rotor and so does a couple of other boys down here. So far they have performed with no problems at all. The most consistant Loader i have shot and the fact that i can strip it with no tools in 10 seconds is MINT! It's such a small profile plus I hate the look of the Prophecy! I have another Rotor coming to take the place of my VLocity i like them that much!

Sorry to the mods for being off-topic but, Bro, that is one shweet set up!
i too have a VLo and when it finally gives in I will replace it with the rotor when it drops in price.
Cheers, Dan
To be honest with the types of paint we see in NZ I would actually be surprised if you had issues with the Rotor. Paint in Aussie is a whole different story lol
Yeah true that Spike the Paint at the moment is quite hard which has its pros and cons.

The Pinokio 'got nuthin' on the Rotor! (I'm referring to the water issue)
PS
the youtube tag wrapping tool isn't working so I left the tags out.

Billy Wing has the best marketing schemes....
lol:
"well it's wet now, just a bit of direct heat should clean that up *billy gets out blowtorch and half melts rotor loader...* look! it still works"
