Hey guys just wondering where I can get my tank "visualy" tested in wellington.
I took it to my local dive shop to fill which they always do, for an afternoon of play and they told me its now due for a visual test (note: not a hydro test)
They said they could'nt do it there because they dont know anything about these tanks.
The test date on mine is 11/2007.

Has any one had the same issue or know how to slove this from what I've read the place that actually legalises these tanks are in wellington some where up in the hutt (I could be wrong), had some advice from my feild to take it to wards cylinder testing in petone, also told by the same guys they recently sold up shop.

Got some good advice from Antsman to just rent a tank for the day for $15 which I will do if I cant get this sorted.
For any tournament day my team mates already have a tank to cover us and in any case we would rent for the day if needed, but if im just playing for a short afternoon of bushball, a quick fill of my HPA tank is more than enough to last for the afternoon plus it saves me from lugging round a tone of steal that I cant really fit in my small car.

So has any one had the same issue and know a place that has dealt with these tanks before, I dont want to take it to a testing place that has no idea these tanks even exist like most dive shops.

Are you referring to a dive tank or a fibre wrapped tank?

If it's a dive tank then any dive shop can do it. But if it's a fibre wrapped tank (as in what you use on your gat) then get a hold of Bookie (available on this forum) and he can point you in the right direction.

Here (http://www.paintball.net.nz/showthread.php?t=1887&highlight=Bookie) is a previous thread on this question.
I've emailed Porirua Cylinder Testing Laboritory which appears to be the most hopeful.
If you're living in Welly you could ring them, otherwise I hope to get a reply today.

Could you please confirm if you are able to test 68ci Luxfer P11F Fibre Wrap tanks with a WP 4500psi?
Do these require periodic visuals or just a hydro at 5yrs?
If so, could you give a cost please?
Porirua Cylinder Test Lab. Ltd

These cylinders require a full hydrolic test every three years and (I may be corrected here ) scrapped after fifteen years
no allowance is made for a visual inspection other than as part of the test( this is only for dive cylinders)
The price to test is $80.00 plus GST

Sincerely,
David Davenport.

Thanks wheelz
So am i correct to say that fibre tanks only need to be hydro tested every three years as they always have been and are not needed to be visualy tested each year unless its a standard steal dive tank.

Would you be able to forward that email to my address just so I have something to show to the dive shop, Just with forwarding the emails theres dates and where the email came from as proof, theres always the phone number relating to the company as well.

Done.

I did a bit of ratting around and found a link to an ERMANZ document (http://www.ermanz.govt.nz/resources/publications/pdfs/BEW%20Paintball%20Cylinders%20Final%2031-Oct-07%20.pdf) covering this. (May save others trawling through the web trying to find it.)
I understand our tanks are fibre wrapped aluminium. Can anyone confirm whether they are, or are they fibre wrapped composite?

If that's the case then my interpretation of the following clause would mean they may only require hydro every 5 yrs. (which sounds familiar).

Does my cylinder need to be tested?
The time between inspections will vary depending on the gas and construction of the cylinder. Fibre wrapped composite cylinders should be inspected every three years, aluminium cylinders need to be inspected every five years. A person must not use a cylinder beyond the maximum life specified in the design standard.

It's also in the articles section on here since we worked with Erma in drafting the document :) http://www.paintball.net.nz/showthread.php?t=1558

Contact Shane (HLD) on the forum he will do a far better deal, he is a Baller and Wormald purchased wards equipment and is fully acredited here in wellington to do this. Without being biased I would strongly sugest if any of you want testing done you contact shane.

Thanks

Grant

Hi all, due to a minor wording issue in the ERMA listings for the P11f I can't test em. We are working through this at the moment and as soon as it is sorted I will put up prices. I can however do dive bottles.
