take the regulator off because the cabin is pressurized and that might go boom.
and store the bottle in a well padded place with the regulator wrapped in something...
thats what i was told to do
Technically you need to be able to prove its not under pressure, best way to do this is to be able to remove the reg from the bottle but I have talked my way out of one still Locktited on.
Obviously empty it first.
But other than that its no major
Firstly make sure its empty
Secondly...Dont take on as cabin luggage thats the no brainer bit
Thirdly..You dont need to remove Reg
Oh and based on as its an empty cylinder...no diff to taking on a underarm spray in ya luggage..
Plus dont even ask or tell them
Its not a restricted item, The main reason the like you to take the reg off is to see inside it. So they know its not filled with anything 'dodgy'.
Just empty it and put it in the bottom of your bag.
Cheers for that guys..
Yeah i asked about bringing my ego back from aucks.. As it asks do you have a firearm.. and i didnt wana lose my ego so i asked... 30mins later i was still confused and i honestly would have just walk back to welly.. No one could guarantee my gun would be in my bag when i arrived :( Air new zealand not very helpful.
Then i asked about the hpa for future reference.. WOW... hahah
Cheers for the help!!

Hahaha! ROFL.
You crack me up Rob. :D
For starters you never admit its a firearm..
For all the years I have flown to events from Dunedin..we have never had any issues.
We checkin as a sports team.
We dont mention guns, tanks or anything Paintball related...Why cause and issue when there isnt one to cause.
Its one thing to be informed ..Its another to be dumb and informed...
All your gear goes in your luggage ..Not carry on luggage..Problem solved..Its as easy as that..

Hey guys, So I've played in auz a few timers now and I fly domestic quite abit with my gear incl my guns etc, paintball markers are not restircted in NewZealand if your over 18 or 16 with a firearms lisence neither are bottles. So what I do is release all the air from my hpa tank remove the regualtor and then tape my bottle (where the reg srews into) so no debris like sand can enter the bottle if customs ever wants to look at my bottle I can easily remove the tape and show them theres no contents inside the bottle (like jono said no 'dodgey' stuff). When flying to oz I do the same with my bottle and just use my auzy teams guns instead of taking my own. If you want to take your own marker you have to contact the police deparment of the state that your visting for example NSW the permit usually cost around $100 for 2 guns on the permit you need to have the colour of the markers make model and serial numbers and have your local police dpearment stamp the permit to show you are a person of good calibur (lol) the markers also have to be stored in a lockable box for customs. Also since paintball markers are considered guns it means loaders are considerd magazines (just so you know).
Hope this helps.

Yes They treat the loaders as magazines and could confiscate them but I have purchased markers while playing in auz and taking them out of auz is no problem same goes with loaders its just bringing them in.
Cheers for that Sketch,
Good to know in nz we arent to strict with the permits etc,
I can understand why they might want to check the contents of the bottle, could be easy to hide things.
