proto slg
cons: crappy trigger, half plastic
g3
Cons:doesn't use a micro switch
(get the special edition g3 it's $800 from memory, comes with two piece barrel, new trigger, improved reg, new board, and it's polished.)
mini
Cons: hit or miss whether you get a good one, doesn't like brittle paint.
hope this helps
the new SLG is actually fairly decent. The trigger is much better than the original SLG and it's addressed all the major issues on the original.

ok, ive recently got a mini.
i purchased it at actions sydney.
before i purchased it i check that it was a newer board.
i checked that the board was a "optimus 1.2 control board" this is the newer one and not the one with the faults. i think this is the standard on the market now - they have gotten rid of the older boards.
with paint, it didnt like the green stripy s that Steve had supplied on QB, but it craves the yellow and the pink stripey s. when using the green i noticed that it chopped a few then went back to normal after the mess was shot out - it may have something to do with the ball to barrel size? maybe nother reason was that i dug my barrel into the ground when i dived, that may be a major. heck i dont know - but i enjoy shooting the mini,
i'd go for a mini, they are small and fast.
Core samples are horrible and will break a few balls, but once you shoot it a few times it should be ok.
Note: take the impact on your *other* arm when diving!
And diving is a bad word - makes it sound like you get air. You don't. It should be called a belly slide or something.

or u could get a 2nd hand marq 7 or rapper from states, shoots like a dm7/8 but quieter :) not a spool, but inline poppit,

Cheers for the info Guys
PMR's i do like...
G3's I do like.
maintenance wise whats the diff ? I hear G3 only has 6 Ho Rings :?
As much as id like a Marq or Rapper, I wouldn't be keen on a 2nd hand marker from the states, only way id buy second hand is if I can try it first.
G3 is probably a bit lower maintanence but ALLOT louder. If your into the soldier boy stuff I would suggest a spoolie like a PM
Re Vijil's post, take the impact on your gun arm with your wrist angled to keep the barrel off the ground, otherwise your heavy gun is definitely gonna slap the ground anyway if you dive fast and try and keep it in the air.

Much louder than ma timmah with a lucky 15 barrel ? Going to play a bit of speedball this year, but still will be playing rec games where a quiet marker is useful.
Quiet markers are still useful in speedball - you can hear your teammates yelling easier.
Frodo is right I guess, I'm just saying what I've seen said on training vids. Maybe what they really meant is that the non gun arm should be hitting the ground first.

if lower maintainence/less lubing is what ur after go knock open poppit, ego, timmy/vice, legend, spoolies do require bit more maintainence, but thats only a problem if ur retarted, and u aint matt:)

Dude I would suggest going to the Hamilton 3's and you cant try them, pretty sure there are regulars there with DP and PM guns

LOL
Will do this that year. We now have enough keen guys with decent markers so it will happen! Even if we have to drive to the tron.
Yeah im not tooooo worried about maintenance just don't want a marker that has 1400 O-rings or something that needs to be stripped after every game. My Timmy is pretty sweet maintenance wise, I strip and lube it after every 3rd or 4th box of paint through it and its an easy quick job.

Can anyone who's owned an Infinity Legend tell me if there any common issues and what the maintenance is like?
Im liking them.
Still got a few other markers to look at but id like to definitely have a look at a legend
