So they're moving the venue to an aircraft museum this time, Fantasy of Flight. It looks like the PSP will get a much better deal when it comes to parking and cost there than they did at Disney.

- Both Joy Division and London Nexus will be attending, though Nexus will be playing in the semi pro division. That makes this probably the most international World Cup to date at the high levels.

- The news is that GI Milsim will be debuting their .50 calibre system. While they're a milsim company because that's where they've decided to start, SP and others are backing them and are the ones behind the push to make all paintball .50 cal.

- Monkey With A Gun will be releasing Cereal Killerz 2 at World Cup. Patrick Spohrer of MWAG is also the guy doing the PSP webcast.

- There are already well over 200 teams registered for WC this year, and the Polk County district people are very, very happy to have the PSP in their area. They're saying they can't wait and that it'll be a great shot in the arm for their economy.

- The PSP are considering moving all the divisions to a flat 12.5bps ROF for next year, though this wont affect World Cup.

The field layout has been released too:

if this whole .50 cal thing does catch on (which i would say would be highly likely considering SP's involvement), how long do you guys reckon it would take from the time of it being used in tournies in the US to the time of it being used here? i actually hope it doesnt... seems like too much would have to change :(

I don't think the .50 cal thing will be too bad. The change will be very gradual, and for at least a year both calibres will be allowed at big US events. Here in NZ we could make the change as gradually as people wanted to. I hear that the new impulse has parts already designed that mean you can just swap the bolt, feedneck, firing chamber and barrel and you have yourself a .50 .

What it will mean is cheaper paint, or if not cheaper, cheaper to make. Or both. The long term payoff is good in theory.

anyone have like a ballpark figure of how much cheaper paint would be?

They say it'll cost about half as much to manufacture in terms of actual paint materials, but they still have to have the same number of machines and staff etc. There are some savings on freight but overall I'd guess about a 20% decrease by the time it gets to retail. How much of that gets passed on to the consumer I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't much.

Dye will be releasing the DM10, NT9, and Rotor 2 prior to WC. Vanguard shoooould have our spool off the ground for WC.

The down side to the 50 cal debate is everything in ball is made for 68cal..imagine having to but all new Hoppers / Markers/ Barrels..and that only one player let alone the Field Ops..I think 68cal for many years to come commercially..Smaller cal higher Velocity..
