Browsing through trademe (as you do) and noticed this
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Paintball/Accessories/auction-283800460.htm

Now the tank itself didn't interest too much, but the sellers comment at the bottom intrigued me:

"Seller Comment: If it does not fit into any of the legal categories already in NZ you can apply to ERMA for a waiver to have this done as a one of a kind "orphan" bottle..it will cost $112.50 for this application and they will have it checked and assign an SP number to it, you can then have it filled and used legally. "

How viable is this? I've checked the bottle thread on pbnz, but went cross eyed from all the bs after 3 pages. Also had a quick look at ERMA's site, and they don't make it sound quite so easy as this guy.

Only reason it interested me is I have a hardly used 90ci/4500psi I bought just before I stopped playing. I had consigned it to 'expensive paperweight' status, and have been thinking of just picking up one of these new 47ci 3000 systems (as cheap as they are going to be, it means I can get playing now) Just seems like a waste of money to just have the 90 just sitting there.

How do you go about getting this done?
I know a lot of people that have non-legal tanks that would be more than happy to pay to make them legal.

its very hard to get something like a paintball cylinder done, as before they will do it it has to be considered to be a one off import (you are the only one that wants one)and not like anything that is already legal . and they consider paintball cylinders to be a mass import tank. if it was something like a storage tank say something odd like 65L 6500psi or a scuba like 10L 4000psi then it is not a problem most of the time.

What wonder says is true, they must be one offs...you cannot get together with a few mates and have your non compliant tanks done...you will be told NO. You can get one of a kind orphan tanks done by paying the $112.50 and getting the precommissioning waiver form filled out, but if the inspection of the tank finds it does not NZ specs etc, it will be refused and they may destroy it or render it unusable by drilling some strategic holes....oh and you also lose your $112.50
