Ok, so i was thinking about running a reffing school. This is only in the "maybe" basket right now, I thought I would post it to see what the public feeling is.

The plan is to run a reffing school for a day. Everyone interested would turn up and we would run through a course based around the tricks and technics of what those running the course consider to be good reffing practises. If it is of value, we could even produce a cert for those that have completed the course and shown a required standard.

The way I see it so far is this....

Everyone would be broken up into groups. Each group starts off at a different station, and then goes to each station in rotation. At each station you will be coached on what is considered to be good reffing technic etc in different situations and given as many examples as we can come up with.

Afterwards we'd have a slash at playing (why not seen as here is a group of players in the same spot.)

So what do I need from here??

The first bit is easy.... I need to know who would be interested. Now I don't mean, who would think this would be a good idea. I mean who of you would actually take the time to get off their ass an participate in the day. Obviously I am based in Hamilton, so it would definatly be a Nrth Island thing, but if there is a group of you in SI I would be happy to supply you with all the information we gather to run your own.

Next I need to know who could help me. I am by no means the best in this field. I would need a small group of experienced players to help me design a program and help me carry it out.

Next I need an air field. This goes out to the people with them. This is not planned so I can make a profit. I will be doing this for the love of the sport, and what I see is a need to help it progress forward. I cant see how this could be done well without the use of a field. That probably extends to air. it would be grreat to have iton hand, but in saying that it could be done without it.

So what now?

Post your interst, and like I said, real interest

If you can help me and want to do some work, then let me know.

Lastly - field owners or those that can get them. Give us a hand and help us supply a field for a day.

You all have a REAL opportunity to do something for your sport. Over the years I have seen soooooo many people bleat about ref's and either haven't done anything about it except moan on the forums, let alone put their hand up and reffed themselves. This is your chance.

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain. "Angelou, Maya"

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Ok all,

There seems to be enough interest in a reffing Clinic. Thank you to all those that have taken the time to let me know you are interested.

As Mentioned, I have only started on it, so from here I will start putting it together.

At this stage it will probably be in a fairly central place. If I can do it in Hamilton area then I will. The plan is to have an air field set up, and the clinic will probably run a few hours. This means after the session, we can all shoot the crap out of each other afterwards.

I don't want to be the only voice in this, so please feel free to let me know what you would like to see in a reffing clinic. i will also be calling on people to help me pull it off.

Do you think it would be of value to supply those (that come to an agreed std) a certificate? If that was the case would event organisers be interested in supporting those that are "qualified".

These are all "ifs" and "buts", but I really feel we can do something pretty cool.
