Firstly if anyone has any problems with the reffing... direct them at me, noone else. I can be contacted on 027 448 2780.

There were some inconsistancies, but know that we were origionally planning on putting in a team - but decided against it when we saw that the event just wouldn't go ahead without at least some refs at hand. 4 people whom had put their names down were unable to attend for vairious reasons and those named below went beyond the call of duty to turn up and get shot to shit on the day (as well take a lot of abuse). Unfortuantly, I think a few of them probably will have to say no next time help is needed - as to be honest... its not really worth the effort anymore due to the amount of wiping, playing on, cheating, and general poor sportsmanship... all from people who should really know better. I won't name names as you all know who you are, and I see on the other site there are lots of examples of the pot calling the kettle black.

I'd like to see many of the players take a good hard look at themselves, and think "is this the sort of example we want to set to new players" or would you want your kids to see you act like that? I saw one person shake the hands of the other team, now back in 01 - everyone would do it. Not because they had to, but because they respected the other team and wanted to congratulete them on a hard played game. Now I fear we are more likely to see a punch up in the next 12 months.

Next, thanks to those who helped out:

Vitally Miheev, Travelled down from Auckland at the last minute after others pulled out.
Pirooz Zarize, Travelled down from Rotorua at the last minute after others pulled out.
Jason Cleeton, gave up on playing and offered to help when there was trouble.
Scott Boivard, offered to help at the last minute
Peter Hamilton, for the help on day one
Ben, thanks for this and the other events you've helped out at.. I hope you like the new homepaged on your laptop.
Steven, I know this is your first event reffing - you did a good job and learnt the chrono, also took a lot of hits on the back barricade in the finals. I hope your ears ok.

Also big thanks to Di for being there when we needed help, and to Maria for helping out with the scores and other things that we will probably never know about.

Thanks to Ants for making us feel welcome and feeding us.

Thanks to Bookie for keeping us company on Friday and for the beers.

Thanks to everyone who stayed back and cleaned up.

I got to 47 hits that I could count in the mirror.
After a good rinse and a couple of panadol the ear was fine, just a lot of thick yellow paint and a bit of shell made it through the grill. (mental note tighten the mask straps at all times) It just came as a massive shock as I was not expecting to be hit under the mask, and I needed a bit of quite time after it happened
