The third round of the NZPPL super 5-man series will be held in Kapiti Coast "El Rancho Waikanae"
This is the perfect venue to host up to 2 fields if needed.

Thats what I love about the Plate/Cup format.

Speedball teams, in particular, tend to lose players or have some unavailable at some tourneys. Rather than having to sub in an experienced merc, you can give the new blood a good run in the prelim seeding RoundRobin as these points don't count towards final score in the Cup/Plate rounds.

Apparently Adrenalin beat Disposal Unit (?) in both roundrobins ?

My bad, apologies ADHD ...

RoundRobin II is played amongst seeded peers.

Also means complete novice teams dont get double-spanked by the top 10 teams in the country. They do have a crack at them in the prelims, which is always good for experience. Nothing better than getting back to your home town and telling your mates you bunkered a "Pro" as well.

Also means the Pro teams dont have to waste paint i.e. money ripping up newbies twice :p ... can focus on the other Pro teams.

Yeah mate new teams or reforming teams winning the Plate is what its all about... lolz, just dont make a habit of it... KamoKarzi (nothing to do with Kamikaze btw) had a trend of sitting at top of 2nd Div/bottom of 1st Div its whole existence ... kudos for their sportsmanship but personally I would hate to be promoted/relegated on a tourney by tourney basis, its better to burn out than fade away imo :deek:

Phoenix played some good ball at Queen's Birthday, specially on day two. After TPC lost the first came to them in the plate final Boog said that we all agreed that it was one game only and not best of 3 like everyone thought, however Phoenix offered to make it best of 3 and earned my respect.
I am looking forward to play you guys again, this time in the cup tho :-)

Yeah Vince, dont get me wrong, Phoenix always has been a class act and it has a trackable history to prove it.

Highlights another advantage to the double roundrobin plate/cup format.

Some teams dont train or drill.

KamikazeFactory dont.

But the first whole day of roundrobin can be regarded as training on the actual tourney field set-up. As Alex pointed out, KKF won last years Roto Plate and the whole team were SupAir noobs, straight from the woodsball of McLeans Island and Lake Hood.

By the end of 2 days play I reckon they coulda given Flashpoint a run for their money :p

The other thing about prelims, is it takes away the homefield advantage, which is huge.

Only thing I'm not a fan of in NZPPL this year, is the Series points system.

See this is interesting, MacDev swear black and blue they have their Lab number on the approved list with ERMA in New Zealand or whoever. Do you have any written documentation you can post to confirm 100% "LAB2046" is the only one that is "legal" in NZ. Would like to send it to them.

this is how it is

that lab number is fully legal and has all the tests it needs and approvals done so it can be used .no probs there. it just cant be put on the cylinders by someone over seas other than the factory.

the issue with macdev tanks is a lot dont have lab numbers on them to start with and those that do, dont have them put on through the approved process which macdev being in ozzy and the rules being similar they should know.

the process for importing a cylinder is :
(1)if it has a lab number put on by the factory then it needs to go to a imported cylinder certifier for a imported test cert. thats the papers i supply with my cylinders

(2)if it doesnt have a lab put on by the factory it needs to go to a precommissioning testing station like tank test. they put the number on and the approval stamp (this is the only way they do it in ozzy for ozzy W.C numbers. no approval stamp no fill there)

both process record the SN on a register of legal cylinders.

ether way its not a real issue as they may technically not be fully legal but the big tests have been done and when they are hydroed line 2 is done at the same time.
there is also no requirement to look for the approval stamp when filling. only the cylinder markings and lab number its self. and if some markings are missing refer to testing station.

if you are concerned about your cylinder not having the approval stamp even though it has a lab number just take it into a testing station and they will put one on for you and record it down. my advice.. dont bother just wait until in needs hydro. more advise is dont worry about cylinders that have had the big tests done as if they are not fully legal they can be made fully legal cheep and easily, point your concern at those that havnt had the big tests done as they cant easily be fixed and are very illegal

the info if you are into heavy readying can be found in the compressed gasses acts of for lighter reading the guide to gas cylinders (which is only about 90% correct but it does have the import process correct)

If its a Luxfer P11F (regardless of whos label is on the outside ie I have an empire one) tank then its legal, it must then have a LAB number placed on it, then hydroed if not currently in test. Thats what mine is and its what I used at Rotorua and it was checked and filled. Hope this helps

There is Filler discretion, if it appears legal to fill and is not damaged in any way , I will fill it no worries.

If a Govt body, or other certed filler/certifier informs me on the day that it is not , then I will need to see their docs.

Ok that's interesting, they certainly weren't 100% consistent, they get put on as they leave the factory and those one obviously didn't get done'

But all you guys are missing what I am saying.

IF Macdev supply a new bottle to someone WITH a Lab number on it that they are saying is legal, where is the proof this is not legal.

My point being I saw 5 younger players that purchased new bottles with these lab numbers turned away at the last tournament. This directly contradicts what MacDev are saying is Legal in NZ and I want proof to take back to them...

Ohhhh I get your point now... the proof is in the serial #. But as a Filler I dont need to check serial #s.

It is part of the ordering process to order the correct markings stamped on the cylinder or stickered onto the carbon wrapped bottle.

MacDev obviously had some Luxfers intended for the Aussie (or other) market, but someone sold them here.

I think what Chris Wonder is saying is that each bottle has its serial number recorded at time of manufacturing, the importer gets the serial number recorded by a certifier here and the test/hydro guy has to check it on the list at testing time.

In practical terms I dont think every tester does that. Hell I've seen scubas tested lol.

In the manufacturing process cylinders are cast/wrapped. Those that are destined for the NZ market have the required numbers stamped/stickered on. Then alu/steel cylinders are painted. Valves can be fitted here or there.

These processes are not necessarily completed in the same day, month, or possibly year. Not necessarily in the same part of the Factory. Possibly in another Factory.

There are literally 1000s of blank NZ legal Luxfer P11F 68/4500s sitting in boxes in the States.

As a Filler I know they are safe... if the basic info is on one I will fill it. That is the intention of the markings.

Labbed Luxfers got turned away at a tourney ? Did they say why ? Maybe a bit anal/confused ...

As stated before, as a filler I dont need to match serial numbers with any list. We simply wouldnt have time at Tourneys anyway.

wont have been "with those lab numbers" it would have been with a lack of those lab numbers.

the serial numbers have to be recorded down when they are imported by a test certifier . this links them back to when they are tested in the factory and they are recorded down there too.

what the cylinder testing is moving towards is something like the wof on your car. the serial number/rego will already be on the computer and the test is recorded down on it. prob is if the cylinder hasnt been imported through the right channels no serial number in the system so the test cant be completed.

Sorry to disapoint Sy but i wont be there, Im taking a semi break from playing a full year of Tournies (adult hood is calling) Dont worry though ill make it North next year for a Tourny and it will be with a bunch of old faces that will more then likely smack down on a few teams. Hell last time most of them played together they won Springs 2009 ;)
Not sure why they get checked, I think its just an excuse for people to hold my NTs! Its hard having the best performing and looking markers in NZ :)

Good luck to all the teams playing and i hope to see one of the un-named teams in these so called predictions beat down on everyone and take top spot! Got to love the under-rated under dogs ;)
