Has anyone else had problems with these?

I have a 2010 PMR with stock barrel.

looking down it the is a 'step' with the front being much larger than the back.

It breaks a lot of paint, I put an Azodin blitz barrel on to compare, no more breaks.

Is this just how they are or do I have a dud barrel?

Its a .688 back and a .692 front ...strange you are breaking paint Jeremy ..Is this with the orange bolt ?

It was a problem with the stock bolt as well as the L7.

Most of the breaks seem to be at the join in the barrel.
Ive taken it off after a break and no paint from there back, so I think it is where its happening.

I was thinking of milling a contour into the last few mm of the barrel back so it smoothly joins the front and see if that helps.
Has anyone tried this before?

I briefly had a PMR 10 in my posession, and sent it back as I wasnt happy with it!

When looking down the barrel, you can see a groove, where as with my ultralite and matchstick barrels, when they are connected, you look down and there is no groove to be seen. I also broke a few balls out of only a couple of pods in the PMR10, in the two piece barrel, I threw an Apex2 onto it, and no breaks.

So yeah, id def say that it is the barrel!!

What is the idea behind a two piece barrel? I would have though a one piece would be better, yet all the higher end markers seem to come with two piece kits??

^usually cheaper to buy a back than a whole barrel

2 pce barrels give you more options, more so when you have a kit. you can change the bore size by switching the back half of the barrel and keep bulk and weight down in your gear bag by having only 1 or 2 tips (say a 14 inch and a 16 inch tip.)
I use a Redz 6 pce kit and have never been lacking in choice of barrel to match my paint.

My freak and Redz kits were the same, seamless joins.
I do miss my Redz barrel.

Isnt that the same idea as inserts tho? Like, couldnt you get a 14" one piece barrel with different sized inserts? Or am I mis-understood?

Do you mean like the Deadly Wind ones?

The other reason for 2pce barrels is materials;
A ball goes through a stainless steel barrel easier (less friction), but its very heavy.
Many older 2pce barrels had SS back and alloy front, best of both worlds.
These days they are doing the same thing with carbon fiber.

Yeh like the Freak and Shift barrel kits, they all come with inserts for different sizes as well as a two piece barrel.
