View Full Version : Help A noobie make an informed choice?
Ohkay so I recently just got a tippmann a5 (response trigger) and mask off my mate. So obviously I have been looking around for a hpa/co2 tank.
I was wondering if it would be worth getting a http://www.paintballshop.co.nz/Products/ninja-13ci-hpa-3000psi-cylinder.html because where I will be attending there is free air however it is rather small and i hear the tippmann a5 chews through gas.
Would it be better to get a couple of 12oz co2 tanks or say a 20oz???
Helpful links would be much appreciated! :D
Thankyou Troy
(p.s I did do a search before posting)

A 13ci tank will be a waste of time, wont last long at all. You will want a 47ci 3000psi or 68ci 4500psi tank.
Id go with the CO2 unless you have a bit more to spend.
There is a 47ci tank on Trademe for $130 or they are about $170 new.
If you go for air make sure the tank has a LAB number on it or it cant be used in NZ, plenty about that on the forums though.

I aggree with unforgiven, except I would pay the extra $$$ and buy this one http://www.300fps.co.nz/proddetail.php?prod=HPA47CU3000PSI it will pay for itself after 2 or three games and it is NZ legal
http://www.skullzpaintballs.co.nz/hpa-steel-47ci-bottle/
cheaper but doesn't say anything about lab number?

I would just buy air over CO2.....and when it comes to air it does not matter about the price make sure it is a NZ legal first then worry about price....... other wise it will be a expensive mistake.
I would say the skullz one is NZ legal but I would make sure it is first before you buy
I would suggest you have a good think about what you want to do in Paintball first.....
Are you looking at playing bushball or possibly getting into tourney??
Either way, I would save for a few more weeks and buy a legal airtank. Air is better for your gun (especially o-rings) and is more consistant (you wont get drop off or spiking, meaning your shots stay consistant right down to the last few hundred PSI). If you buy a fill station you can fill of a Scuba which would last most people a full day and is only about $20-30 to hire.
What air to buy is where you need to make the decision...........
47cu Tank
Positives;
Fairly cheap
Dont need a bottle cover (but helps)
Negatives;
Heavy (made of steel)
You may want to upgrade at some point inthe future to a Carbon Fibre
68cu Carbon fibre
Positives
Have more volume
Are a much lighter
Will cover any situation for years, no matter what you plan to do in paintball
Negatives
Are more expensive
Normally need a bottle cover to stop them getting damaged (these are fairly cheap, and people have used socks before)
Make sure you get one with a legal lab. The reason for this is some places will not let you use it on their field unless it is labed. These have a time frame in which you will need to get them re checked. There are a few places around NZ that will do it, cant advise the cost, but way cheaper than buying a new one.
Hope that helps
