Central North Island Bushball Tournament

When: Sunday 11th February (weekend after Waitangi)

Where: Tui Ridge (http://www.tuiridgepark.co.nz/location.htm) - Cheap accomodation (http://www.tuiridgepark.co.nz/chalet.htm) available onsite. No alchohol allowed.

Entry: $35 pp - this must be paid one week prior to the tournament

Paint: FPO $75 a case prepaid or $85 on the day - WPN Killer Bee
Scubas supplied I think

Rego: email info@paintballnz.co.nz with team name and details.

Teams: 5man, four with four pods and one with six. Hopper must be empty till both teams ready.

Game: 20 mins, centre flag, elimination. No hang = win on kills. Even kills = 5 min match.

Other stuff we need to know is that we can use our legal tourney markers and other gears, but they've stipulated no "brightly coloured stuff". I have no idea how far that extends - I suspect they'll be happy with just the usual tourney gear and a camo tshirt instead of a paintball jersey so long as it's not bright. In any case take it seriously and remember that colours = wish. No ghillies allowed for obvious reasons. Better to wear black/camo pants than tourney pants.

We are allowed to use radios, but not paint s. So basically its five man centre flag in the bush with radios and camo. Any player caught cheating (and there will be refs running around) will be removed from the rest of the tournament. So don't cheat.

I am planning on taking a team from Wellington up to see what it's like playing in the bush without a bunch of crying 8 year olds. So far a friend from work with a Tippmann, Rosey and possibly The Tod have expressed an interest. I'd like to have a couple more. If there's enough interest we could even take two teams. I'll go shopping for a bunch of cheap camo long sleeve tshirts at some stage. Might get them printed if people want - also will consider getting camo caps.

This is one of a three part series this coming year. I've put us down as a one off team for now, but if we have a blast (which I suspect we will) I guess we could consider going again.

I know that so far 7DS is coming down from Auckland and a couple of local Rotorua bush teams among others.

more info is available here (http://p069.ezboard.com/fnzpaintballfrm26.showMessageRange?topicID=320.top ic&start=21&stop=30) if anything I've said confuses you :)

Paintballs fired via gunpowder would be interesting at the chrono station...

That makes a team almost. Cool. Who else wants in?

check Farmers, last year I picked up a couple of light long sleeved tops in Green/dark blue and black/grey for about $20 that are good for wearing in warm conditions in the bush. Not too baggy and good wrist elastic. You could then tie dye them for insane fun

I suspect the hopper fill thing it even it up for bushballers using smaller hoppers or q-loaders.

My Bushballer teammate has a couple of radios with voice activated headsets which should fit under a mask, so we can use those and maybe see if we can't get some more. Not sure if it's worthwhile until we know whether we want to commit longer term.

I'll go check out farmers :)

Bookie do you know where the place is in Roto?

Budget about $200+ for the weekend I'm guessing. Honestly can't see myself shooting more than 2 pods a game, the games are slow and it's only one day.

Take monday off work - we drive up Saturday to walk the field and maybe practice, come back Monday.

Hey I think I've been to that camp before, all the food was vegetarian. Bought a load of steaks and had a fry up soon as we got home!

Does that mean that there is accomodation onsite?

Ah, I see there is. Post updated.

If you're planning on coming with us it'd be cool if you could come to Vendetta/EQM training on Tuesday night 6:30ish at the Daytona indoor in Wingate. That way we can have a chat and whatnot.

I wouldn't use VOX playing paintball, if anyone gets all huffy thats all anyones going to hear on a oneway system. Push to talk would be better, sound activated is easier but heavy breathing would probably engage it.
